Queen of the Meadow Herb, which also goes by the Latin name of Eupatorium purpureum, is an herbaceous perennial plant that is native to the Eastern and Central United States. It blooms in the late summer and fall, and sports beautiful lavender-purple flowers on purple stems that butterflies enjoy. The plants grow quite tall, up to eight feet in height.

Certain cultures have taken the root of the plant and burned it, using the ashes as a salty flavoring for foods. Queen of the Meadow Herb should not be used while pregnant or nursing, and should not be applied to broken skin.
