Getting it to roll on takes more time than a regular condom. It doesn't give the heat of no condoms, but it makes up for it in the feeling it gives the man around his head. It feels like you're wearing nothing at all. I recommend you try them for yourself.

I lose my erection whenever I try to put on a condom, so I just don't use them. What else can I do to prevent STD and pregnancy?
You know what you can do? You can keep using condoms. The condom is by far the most effective means to reduce the risk of STD for people who are sexually active. Or else stop having sex. In all seriousness what I recommend is that you actually practice putting on condoms. It sounds silly, but if you learn to be able to put them on quickly and easily, it won't be such a big deal and spoil the moment. The best drill would actually be to start practicing masturbation with a condom. You will become accustomed to the process of putting it on without losing the erection, as well as to the feel of wearing the condom. There is too much at stake to just give up on using condoms.
Will a guy think I am a slut if I keep a condom in my purse?
I have talked to tons of guys about this, and they really don't have any problem with women providing the condom. It is seen more as a courtesy or convenience. The guy isn't going to find out you have the condom until you're about to have sex anyway. And believe me he has other things on his mind than passing judgment on you. There are often small emissions prior to ejaculation that can be very concentrated in sperm. If your penis contacts your girlfriend's vagina, that could be enough to be a problem. And any genital contact can result in transmission of an STD, especially of the more contagious skin conditions like warts (HPV) or Herpes. The same is true for oral sex. Young people don't like to accept it, but STD's can be transmitted through oral sex. So get the condom on sooner than later.

It's great that you are being responsible for your reproductive health. So here you go. First unroll the condom a little to leave space at the tip to collect semen. Place the condom on the head of the penis, and unroll it all the way to the base. Remove any air remaining in the tip by pressing the air out toward the base of the penis. During intercourse check at the base of the penis to be sure that the condom has not slipped. And very importantly, when he pulls out, be sure he holds the condom securely at the base. Also remember to check that the condom has not exceeded its expiration date.
