Smooth Move is formulated to act as a stimulant laxative based on the traditional use of senna leaf for relief of occasional constipation. Senna leaf, as a laxative herbal tea ingredient has at least a one thousand year history of human use in traditional Arabian, Asian and European herbal medicines. Today senna leaf preparations are approved for use as laxatives in the national pharmacopoeias and formularies of China, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Japan, Switzerland, and the United States. Senna's laxative action is largely attributed to its anthranoid content. Anthranaoids are compounds naturally occurring in many plant laxatives, including aloe, buckthorn, sacara sagrada, rhubarb, and senna.- Gentle and effective overnight relief

Senna is an herbaceous low branching shrub native to Southern India (Tinnevelly district of Madras) and to the semidesert Nile region of northern Africa (Egypt, Sudan) and is now mostly cultivated in China, India and Pakistan. The yellowish-green to pale olive leaflets are hand-collected, dried and graded 3-5 months after planting. In our Smooth MoveŽ tea, we use only pharmacopoeial grade senna leaf containing the required level of its stimulant laxative active constituents known as hydroxyanthracene glycosides(sennosides A & B).
SUGGESTED USAGE
Pour 8oz of boiling water over one tea bag and steep, covered, for 10-15 minutes. Adults and children over 12 years: Drink 1 cup before bedtime. If necessary, repeat the next day not to exceed 4 cups in 24 hours. Children 6-12 years: Drink 1/2 cup before bedtime. If necessary, repeat the next day not to exceed 2 cups in 24 hours. Children under 6 years: Consult a doctor before use.

I can understand why some people might feel the need to warn others about the dangers of ingesting large amounts of senna over extended periods of time, but this product is not meant to be ingested in that particular fashion. I can't imagine what would happen if you drank a liter of this per day, but I suspect you'd spend the rest of your natural life in the bathroom. All it takes is a half a cup of tea to do the job for me, and it tastes a bit like sweet black licorice. I don't find the taste offensive, this product definitely produced results and the movement was indeed smooth. I did have a bit of cramping the next morning, but it wasn't the very painful cramping normally associated with chemical laxatives. All in all, I was impressed given the fact that it's a natural product, and I only drank a half of a cup because I wasn't sure how my body was going to react to it, yet it was still very effective.

if you need to go to the bathroom, but can't, take this!! BUT, ONLY take ONE tea bag; otherwise you will surely regret it. I used one and it worked perfectly. It's good, but I don't recommend if you have a sensitive stomach.
