In addition to taking Back Pain/Sciatica, you can do many things to take care of your back and prevent or relieve pain. Here are some of the most important:- When lifting, always keep your back straight and bend from the knees, using the strength of your legs to lift rather than putting a strain on your back. This is called good "body mechanics."
- If possible, avoid sleeping on your stomach. It puts a bad strain on your back and pushes your neck and spine out of alignment.
- When you are sitting, make sure your feet are flat on the floor. If they don't reach the floor, use a collapsible footrest that you can carry with you.
